Chance the Rapper
Chance the Rapper made headlines with his gracious donation of $1 Million dollars of his own money to deprived neighborhood schools in his home town of Chicago Illinois. Now this isn’t the first time a rapper has donated their own money to help the neighborhoods that likely supported them on their come up. Chance is just the loudest lately. But Chance is not alone in his efforts. Not even among the most.
Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine donated a combined sum of $70 million. Is was donated to create a new degree program that blends business, marketing, product development, design and liberal arts. Perhaps it’s a program to help the next generation find their own “Beats Headphones” pot of gold.
But Dr. Dre is not alone. There are many more. Diddy ran the NYC marathon to raise $2 million dollars for New York public schools and children suffering from HIV & AIDS. He also supported Breast Cancer cures by making a special pink slip through his successful Sean John clothing brand.
50 Cent has his own foundation called G-Unity that does regular food and clothing drives along with uplifting community projects. He even has a energy drink named Street King to do lifesaving water projects in Africa. He also donates portions of his profits from his headphone company to charity as well.
Worth over $1 Billion Jay-Z and Beyonce have given their fair share of charitable contributions. Since the inception of the Shawn Carter Foundation in 2003 Jay-Z has given away a little over $1.3 Million dollars to various charities.
Young Jeezy can be said to belong to the million dollar club of charitable donations as he donated $1 million to the Jay Morrison Academy, and educational institution that teaches people from all walks of life about getting into real estate. The substantial scholarship donation was given through Jeezy’s Street Dreamz Foundation.
