The Glow Of Love

Luther Ronzoni Vandross
April 20, 1951-July 1, 2005
Listen to "Glow" below.

'The Voice' has left the building and we miss him already.

This is a special installment of "Amplified" but, we still have to'put you up on game'.

I remember the first time I heard his voice.

It was 1980.

I was a kid in my room, ON PUNISHMENT, listening to the radio and this song came on. The DJ came on afterward and said...

(Imagine a very corny voice trying to be cool)

"That was CHANGE.... groovin', 'The Glow Of Looooove'!!"

I liked the song the first time I heard it....but I didn't know what a 'Luther Vandross' was because they never said his name.

It didn't matter.

Luther Vandross was the featured vocalist on only two tracks on this LP including "Searching". Both songs were chart-topping hits.

Pushed by his success on "The Glow" (As you can see, it rhymes with, The Flow.)  Luther left Change and signed with Epic Records for his first solo album "Never Too Much" which was released in 1981.

I heard that voice again and I said, "That's him!" "That the guy from the other song, I liked!"

That's what made him a legend.

Everytime we heard his voice we said..."THAT'S HIM!"

"That's Luther!"
