Chicago’s mayor Rahm Emanuel has recently stepped down after completion of this term. According to the news, it is said that he is not willing for a re-election and hence this puts an end to his term which means he will not take over the authority and power any more.

This quit of his has led to a celebration as he has stated it clearly that he does not want to seek re-election for the third term.

Rahm said:

“As much as I love this job and will always love this city and its residents, I've decided not to seek re-election,” “This has been the job of a lifetime, but it is not a job for a lifetime […] Now with our three children in college, Amy and I have decided it's time to write another chapter together.”

Rahm had faced a great deal of criticism all through his term. These controversies had put him a lot of trouble and that is how it had been during his term. However, the mayor now has decided that this is not something that he wants to do again.

Chance the rapper, on the contrary, updated a Tweet on Tuesday in support of the organizations who had provided a great deal of help to secure Rahm’s resignation.

He tweeted:

“Shoutout to all the grassroots orgs like @AssataDaughters @BYP_100 and many others that pushed for accountabily and resignation from Rahm. His announcement to not run however, is not Justice for Laquan McDonald, only convicting muderer Jason Van Dyke can bring that,”

“Also we need a new mayor, but not just anybody. We gotta start to come together around a candidate that cares about equity in regards to education, job development and healthcare in one of the most segregated cities in the country”
