We always know Jason Statham to deliver fast paced hard hitting action. Do you remember his exploits in The Transporter 1 & 2??
Just add these new elements...more special effects, better storyline, bigger movie budget and you have the makings of a kick ass flick.
What we like about Jason's characters are they are usually a character of very few words but plenty of action. What's there to talk about... If you gonna do something? Do Something! Don't sit here selling "Woof Tickets".
In "Crank", Jason plays a hit man and he learns that a poison injected into his body will kill him if his heart rate slows below a certain point.
So what does that mean?
More adrenaline pumping action... and more... and more... and more. And all that action is to exact his revenge on the people who injected him before he takes his last breath.
That's just how it should go to. If I'm going to die because of you, I'm a take you with me.
Also starring Amy Smart, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Efren Ramirezand Dwight Yoakam. Directed by Mark Neveldine.
If you're looking for an action flick tonight, or on the plane or at lunch at Starbucks, get some Crank.
It'll get your heart pumping.
Marathon Man (1976)
And if you like "Old School" of the same flavor, check out Marathon Man made back in 1976.
A graduate history student (Dustin Hoffman) is unwittingly caught in the middle of an international conspiracy involving stolen diamonds.
An exiled Nazi war criminal (Sir Laurence Olivier), and a rogue government agent are wrapping up loose ends to smuggle priceless diamonds from the United States.
Also starring, Roy Scheider, William Devane and MartheKeller. Directed by John Schlesinger.
First things first...just because a film was made in the 1970's doesn't mean that its not a good film.
In fact, movies were better back then because character development, diologue and storylines had to be trump tight because there weren't any special effects to save a dumpy flick.
Not to mention that today's Hollywood can't come up with an original script to save their own damn lives...nor will they greenlight one that does come across their desks.
With that said, Marathon Man is a mental thriller not a visual one. If you're a deep thinker...you'll appreciate the sub plot.
You can always go and rent, "Phat Girlz".
